8 Hours of Oschersleben: potentially decisive for the title

The third and penultimate round of the 2014 FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) is the 8 Hours of Oschersleben (Saturday, August 23). GMT 94 (Michelin), the provisional leader, is only seven points clear of second-placed SRC Kawasaki. Victory for either team in Germany would result in a handy advantage ahead of the year’s final clash at Le Mans in September.

FIA Formula E: a final rehearsal at Donington

It’s seven in the morning and the 10 teams registered for the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship have only got seven more hours of testing ahead of them before the landmark series gets under way in Beijing, China, on September 13, round the city’s famous Olympic stadium.

Rally Finland: home joy for Latvala (VW/Michelin)!

Today’s Neste Oil Rally Finland victory went to home-grown Jari-Matti Latvala after a tremendous scrap with Sébastien Ogier (2nd, +3.6s). Briton Kris Meeke (3e, Citroën) joined the VW/Michelin pair on the podium to claim his third top-three finish of the year.

Enduro: Renet and Nambotin World Champions

Coming in Italy for the penultimate Enduro World Championship round strongly leading their class, Pierre Alexandre Renet (Husqvarna Michelin) and Christophe Nambotin (KTM) both secured another World tile during one of the toughest races of the season.

A successful debut for the Michelin LTX Force

Michelin’s new soft-compound LTX Force S4 gravel tyre came through its debut outing in Finland with flying colours. Drivers using it in the WRC and WRC-2 classes – which Michelin is poised to win this afternoon – were delighted with the combination of longevity, strength and performance it delivers.

With 36.6 competitive kilometres to come on Sunday, the gap between Rally Finland leader Jari-Matti Latvala and second-placed Sébastien Ogier is down to just 3.4 seconds. Kris Meeke is third behind the two Volkswagen/Michelin drivers.

Rally Finland (end of Leg 2): a flying Finn

Rally Finland’s overnight leader Jari-Matti Latvala seems determined to be the Flying Finn who puts an end to three years of French domination of his home event. The Volkswagen/Michelin driver is tailed by Kris Meeke (+19.7s, Citroën) and team-mate Sébastien Ogier (+21.3, VW).

For the fourth time in a row since Argentina, there are two Michelin-equipped Volkswagen Polo R WRCs sitting on top of the leaderboard after Day 1. Jari-Matti Latvala is 4.5s clear of Sébastien Ogier, while third-placed Kris Meeke (Citroën) is less than 10s behind.

The second part of the 2014 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) kicks off this week in Jyväskylä with the 64th Neste Oil Rally Finland, frequently described as a grand prix on dirt! The 81-strong entry features all world class rallying’s categories, namely WRC, WRC-2, WRC-3, Junior and Fiesta Trophy).

Trial: Raga keeps some suspense

Adam Raga (Gas Gas) stopped the series of success of Toni Bou (Montesa Michelin), winning the French Grand Prix and keeping some suspense in the series. The title will be decided early in September during the Spanish GP, as arch rivals are now separated by only seven points with two more days of racing to go, with Bou leading the series.

EWC (endurance): next stop, Suzuka!

Following April’s Bol d’Or at Magny-Cours, France, the 2014 FIM Endurance World Championship moves on to Japan for Round 2. The entry list for the non-mandatory 8 Hours of Suzuka features nine EWC-registered teams who will face opposition from the local specialists.
