2019 MOTOGPTM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2019 world championship saw Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Márquez top the Riders’ standings with Michelin for the fourth consecutive year. The 26-year old Spaniard pocketed his sixth title in motorcycle racing’s premier series by becoming the first rider in MotoGPTM history to accumulate more than 400 points in the course of just one season. The silver and bronze medals went to Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) and Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP).

In the course of the 2019 world championship, Michelin helped to break 24 MotoGP records:

-        9 track lap records

-        7 fast race lap records

-        7 race-duration records

 Five different riders and four different bikemakers won grands prix on Michelin rubber in 2019.

 Michelin’s MotoGPTM score now stands at 433 race wins and 30 titles.

2019 LE MANS 24 HOURS

Toyota Gazoo Racing finished first and second at Le Mans for the second year running as Michelin extended its unbeaten run in the French endurance classic to 22 years. The 2019 race was won by the N°8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid of Buemi/Nakajima/Alonso, ahead of the N°7 sister car and N°11 BR1/Michelin. Michelin also triumphed in LMP2 (with Alpine, Lapierre/Negrao/Thiriet), LMGTE Pro (Ferrari, Pier Guidi/Calado/Serra) and LMGTE Am (N°56 Porsche/Michelin, Bergmeister/Lindsey/Perfetti).

2018/2019 FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP (FIA WEC)

The 2018/2019 FIA WEC Drivers’ title went to Buemi/Nakajima/Alonso.

2019 FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP (FIA WRC)

MICHELIN took its tally of WRC Drivers’ crowns to 27 since 1979 thanks to Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja (Toyota Yaris WRC).

Hyundai secured world-class rallying’s Manufacturers’ title for the first time in its history to take MICHELIN’s score to 29 Makes’ trophies since 1973.

MICHELIN now totals 56 WRC Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ titles combined since the championship’s creation in 1973.

2019 NÜRBURGRING 24 HOURS

Michelin monopolised the 47th Nürburgring 24 Hours podium with three different carmakers. First past the flag was the N°4 Team Phoenix Audi R8 LMS of Kaffer/Stippler/Vervisch/Vanthoor, ahead of the N°911 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (Bamber/Estre/Christensen/Vanthoor) and N°3 Team Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3 (Buhk/Haupt/Jaeger/Stolz).

2018/2019 FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP

Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne collected the FIA Formula E title for the second time at the 2018/2019 championship’s final round in New York. The Constructors’ title went to DS Techeetah.

2019 IMSA

The MICHELIN® Pilot® GT range of tyres established a long list of new qualifying, race lap and race distance records in the course of its first season as IMSA’s official tyre supplier.

-        Drivers and teams in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge and IMSA Prototype Challenge broke 90 qualifying and race lap records out of a possible 114.

-        In all, 17 of the 19 constructors involved in IMSA racing broke at least one qualifying or race lap record in 2019.

-        New qualifying and/or race lap records were established at all 12 races on the 2019 IMSA calendar.

-        The winners of five WeatherTech races established new race-distance records.

The inaugural FIM Enel MotoE™ Cup was won by Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE).

2019 DAKAR

Three years after his maiden Dakar success, Toby Price (Red Bull KTM Factory Team/ Michelin) came first again in 2019 to clock up Michelin’s 36th Dakar victory and its 18th in a row with KTM. The Australian rider finished clear of team-mate and 2018 winner Matthias Walkner (Red Bull KTM Factory Team/ Michelin). Third-placed Sam Sunderland (Red Bull KTM Factory Team/ Michelin) made it an all-KTM/Michelin podium.

2019 FIM TRIAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Toni Bou (Montesa / Michelin) scored double tops again by pocketing his 13th straight Trial GP (outdoor) and X-Trial (indoor) crowns. With 26 titles to his name, all on Michelin tyres, the Spaniard is the most successful rider ever on two wheels.

2019 WORLD ENDURO SUPER SERIES (WESS)

Michelin partners came first and second in the World Enduro Super Series (WESS).

Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM) won the eighth and last round of the campaign at Germany’s GetzenRodeo to become enduro racing’s 2019 champion, ahead of Alfredo Gomez (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing).

It was the first title for the new MICHELIN Enduro Xtrem which was developed especially for the WESS’s notoriously tough conditions.

2019 FIM CROSS-COUNTRY RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Second place on the Atacama Rally sufficed for Sam Sunderland (Red Bull KTM Factory Team) to clinch the 2019 FIM Cross-Country Rally crown and earn another world title for the MICHELIN Desert Race.
